“17 Rare Flavors?”—Roared the Major,
“No wonder your dry gin has such matchless taste!”

Old Mr. Boston Smiled as he told the story of his good friend, the Major, who had enjoyed gin fizzes in Manila and gin slings in Singapore, but still preferred a Tom Collins.

“The Major Was Hopping Mad the other evening. He had left the Waltons’ early and joined me, muttering: “They served me a drink disguised as a Tom Collins.’ Now I know the Major … just give him a real Collins and you’re his friend for life.”

“My Butler Walked in with a tray. ‘Beg pardon, sir, hut this Collins is the peak of taste-perfection … made with Old Mr. Boston Gin!’ The Major smacked his lips—and with very good reason!”

“From the 4 Corners of the earth I gather 17 rare flavor ingredients for my dry gin. Not one or two, gentlemen, but 17—to give you perfect balance of aroma and bouquet. Caraway seed, cloves, cardamom, angelica root and orange flowers—to name just a few.”

“Then Just as a Famous Chef blends his sauces. I skillfully blend, or merge, these seventeen rare flavors into one delightful whole. The result is a gin so s-m-o-o-t-h you can drink it straight.”

“You Should Have Seen The Major. 17 rare flavors’, he roared. ‘No wonder your gin has such matchless taste! Why it rates a medal for distinguished flavor and superb bouquet … your tip-top Tom Collins proved it!’ “

About The Blog

The latter group are often referred to as “mixologists,” a term given to practitioners of “mixology,” which is really just another way of referring to the practice of making good cocktails. Mixology might seem like a newfangled term, but it’s actually pretty old, like mid-19th century old, and was only revived as a way to describe the recent renaissance of bartenders caring (a lot) about their craft.
