Mixed Drink Recipes

Here are some simple cocktail recipes you can try for your Saturday night:

  1. Margarita: Mix 2 oz tequila, 1 oz lime juice, and 1/2 oz triple sec in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a salt-rimmed glass.
  2. Gin and Tonic: Combine 2 oz gin and 4 oz tonic water in a glass with ice. Garnish with a slice of lime.
  3. Rum and Coke: Mix 2 oz rum and 4 oz cola in a glass with ice. Garnish with a lime wedge.
  4. Whiskey Sour: Combine 2 oz whiskey, 1 oz lemon juice, and 1/2 oz simple syrup in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a glass with ice.
  5. Moscow Mule: Mix 2 oz vodka, 4 oz ginger beer, and 1/2 oz lime juice in a copper mug with ice. Garnish with a lime wedge.

If you’re looking for some more sophisticated cocktails to impress your guests on a Saturday night, here are a few ideas:

  1. Old Fashioned: In a glass, muddle 1 sugar cube, 2 dashes Angostura bitters, and a splash of water. Add ice, 2 oz bourbon or rye whiskey, and stir. Garnish with an orange twist and a cherry.
  2. Manhattan: In a shaker, mix 2 oz rye whiskey, 1 oz sweet vermouth, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters with ice. Strain into a chilled glass and garnish with a cherry.
  3. French 75: In a shaker, mix 2 oz gin, 1 oz lemon juice, and 1/2 oz simple syrup with ice. Strain into a chilled glass and top with champagne. Garnish with a lemon twist.
  4. Negroni: In a glass, mix 1 oz gin, 1 oz sweet vermouth, and 1 oz Campari with ice. Stir and garnish with an orange twist.
  5. Sazerac: In a chilled glass, rinse with absinthe and discard the excess. In a shaker, mix 2 oz rye whiskey, 1/4 oz simple syrup, and 2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters with ice. Strain into the prepared glass and garnish with a lemon twist.

Enjoy your Saturday night!

About The Blog

The latter group are often referred to as “mixologists,” a term given to practitioners of “mixology,” which is really just another way of referring to the practice of making good cocktails. Mixology might seem like a newfangled term, but it’s actually pretty old, like mid-19th century old, and was only revived as a way to describe the recent renaissance of bartenders caring (a lot) about their craft.
