In 1753, the renegade Cluny MacTavish was tried and convicted of stealing a bottle of Drambuie. And the lesser charge of murdering the coachman.

As with most legends, the details here may have grown fuzzy with the years. But one thing remains crystal clear. Drambuie is the unique liqueur flavored with wild heather honey and the finest malt whiskies. So it has a taste that people would kill for Drambuie. Scottish in origin, distinctive in taste, unchanged since 1745.

In 1799, the brothers Rusty and Dusty Nail had a difference of opinion over who actually invented the new drink with Drambuie and scotch. Guess who won?

Legend has it that the Rusty Nail inspired brotherly hate. But that was some time ago. How long has it been since you’ve experienced a Rusty Nail, that legendary cocktail that raises ordinary scotch to mythic proportions? Of course, Drambuie is also pretty spectacular as a solo. It’s the one drink that simply has no twin. Drambuie. Scottish in origin, distinctive in taste, unchanged since 1745.

In 1777, the Duchess of Edinburgh threw a ball and word got out that Drambuie was to be served. They came from as far away as Albuquerque.

Would you like to be known for throwing a legendary party? Serve Drambuie. In a Rusty Nail (half Drambuie, half Scotch), on the rocks, or simply in a glass by itself, Drambuie makes quite an impression. It’s the one liqueur flavored with wild heather honey and the finest malt whiskies. Just make sure you have enough. You never know when three or four thousand people will stop by. Drambuie. In 1762, Hugh McDermott neglected to give a bottle of Drambuie to the postman for Christmas. To this day, no member of the McDermott clan has ever received so much as a postcard.

As legends go, this fact may well be fiction. But what is indisputably the truth is that Drambuie is the legendary liqueur with a uniquely satisfying taste. Drink Drambuie, the liqueur flavored with wild heather honey and the finest malt whiskies. Or, now that the holidays are near, give Drambuie. Drambuie salutes golf legend Amos Scougal, who in 1793 hit seven consecutive eagles. Unfortunately, he also hit one bear.

Some say Amos was later seen at the 19th hole, discussing the ordeal over his favorite liqueur, Drambuie. Others say it was atop a large pine tree that he was last seen. Drambuie. About The Blog

The latter group are often referred to as “mixologists,” a term given to practitioners of “mixology,” which is really just another way of referring to the practice of making good cocktails. Mixology might seem like a newfangled term, but it’s actually pretty old, like mid-19th century old, and was only revived as a way to describe the recent renaissance of bartenders caring (a lot) about their craft.
