Cocktails for World Buckfast Day

Cocktails for World Buckfast Day
Holidays and Observances

World Buckfast Day is an annual celebration of Buckfast Tonic Wine that takes place on the second Saturday in May. Buckfast Tonic Wine is a fortified wine that originated in the United Kingdom and is particularly popular in Scotland and Ireland. It is made by the Benedictine monks of Buckfast Abbey in Devon, England, and is known for its high caffeine and sugar content.

World Buckfast Day began in 2013 as a way for Buckfast enthusiasts around the world to celebrate and share their love for the drink. The day typically involves gatherings and events at bars and clubs, as well as online communities, where people can enjoy Buckfast together and share their experiences. Some people even create their own Buckfast-inspired cocktails and recipes.

About The Blog

The latter group are often referred to as “mixologists,” a term given to practitioners of “mixology,” which is really just another way of referring to the practice of making good cocktails. Mixology might seem like a newfangled term, but it’s actually pretty old, like mid-19th century old, and was only revived as a way to describe the recent renaissance of bartenders caring (a lot) about their craft.
