About Galliano Liqueur

Galliano Liqueur is a sweet, herbal liqueur that originated in Italy in 1896. Here is some information about Galliano:

Origin: Galliano was created by Arturo Vaccari, a distiller from Livorno, Italy. The liqueur was named after Giuseppe Galliano, an Italian hero of the First Italo-Ethiopian War.

Ingredients: Galliano is made from a blend of over 30 herbs and spices, including anise, juniper, lavender, cinnamon, and vanilla. The exact recipe is a closely guarded secret.

Texture: Galliano has a syrupy texture and a bright yellow color.

Proof: Galliano is 42.3% ABV (84.6 proof).

Usage: Galliano can be used as a sweetener and flavoring agent in cocktails. It is often used in drinks that feature citrus juices or other sweet liqueurs.

Serving: Galliano is often served in cocktails, but can also be enjoyed on its own over ice or as a digestif after a meal.

Festive drink: Galliano is often used in festive cocktails due to its bright yellow color and sweet flavor. It is a common ingredient in drinks served during the holiday season.

Production: Galliano is produced in Italy by the company Lucas Bols. The production process is a closely guarded secret, but it is known to involve the maceration of herbs and spices in a neutral spirit.

Manufacturer: Lucas Bols is a Dutch distillery that has been producing Galliano since 2006, when they acquired the brand from the Italian company Campari.

About The Blog

The latter group are often referred to as “mixologists,” a term given to practitioners of “mixology,” which is really just another way of referring to the practice of making good cocktails. Mixology might seem like a newfangled term, but it’s actually pretty old, like mid-19th century old, and was only revived as a way to describe the recent renaissance of bartenders caring (a lot) about their craft.
